How to rid of fruit flies

The best way to rid fruit flies is by eliminating their food supply and breeding areas. They feed and breed at the same place. You can do treatment yourself on that area. Go through your entire house to get rid of these breeding areas. Just keep in mind that fruit flies breed in moist conditions.

The most common breeding place of fruit flies are over ripe fruits and vegetables, dirty and wet wash rags, spills and messes. Make sure to get rid of the following in all areas of your house.


Kitchen Area

Get rid of any spoiled food in the kitchen counter, table or anywhere in the kitchen. Don’t leave any unwashed and wet dish rags hanging. Make sure your trash can has a tight lid and throw it away as often as you can before it overflows. Clean your cabinets for any spills and messes. Just investigate every area in the kitchen and remove all spills and messes to avoid fruit flies.

Living Areas and Bathroom

Clean up any food left over in your living room. Inspect carefully for any spills in your carpet and clean it up and dry. In your bathroom, be sure to clean it all up and get it dry. Inspect your cabinets for any leaks.

Simplest and cost effective trap

When you are done eliminating food supply and breeding areas, it is time to rid of fruit flies inside your home. Put about 1/8 apple cider vinegar in a glass and add a little dish detergent and mix it. Place the glass where you find lots of fruit flies overnight. You will find lots of fruit flies in the morning.
